Universality classes of turbulence

All happy families are alike, and all equilibrium states have Gibbs distribution. Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. How universal are far-from-equilibrium states? How similar are stormy seas and thermonuclear plasma? The question is not only how the state depends on symmetries and types of interaction,  but also on ways of excitation and dissipation. We have started to answer this question using field-theoretical methods.
